Shanghai Beer Week Collaboration Brew

With the Third Shanghai Beer Week fast approaching, four of Shanghai’s leading Brewmasters recently got together to brew up a special “Collaboration Brew” for this year’s week long festivities –

Brewmasters from Dr. Beer, Boxing Cat, Shanghai Brewery & The Brew pulled all their might (over 40 years combined experience) to produce a special brew to celebrate Shanghai Beer Week 2014 recently at The BREW – Brewery Bar, Pudong.

This rolls on from last year’s SHBW collaboration brew – “Porkies’ Revenge” (paying honour to the 13,000 pigs found in the Huangpu river by brewing a beer with the local Huangpu water supply) – this was a 9.5% alc Imperial Pilsner – a very unique drop that only has a few breweries around the world daring their brewing skills on the technically brewed beer – their efforts a major success – enough to give them confidence to pull off the next collaboration for this year –

A whopping 9.5%+ Triple India Pale Ale – This is a beast of a beer; and it has been brewed with enough time for the beer to ripen with age. Leading industry suppliers have helped them out by supplying the mammoth amount of ingredients for this beer. Malt Europe NZ supplying the malted barley, Fermentis Yeast from Belgium is helping create the strong ale and Yakima Valley Hops from Yakima USA gave the monstrous amount of hops to give this goliath its flavour.

Think BIG – want a name to look out for?? You will have to wait until Shanghai Beer Week 23 May -1 June to find out – fun events and activities throughout the week – so check them out shanghaibeerweek.com (my pick is the opening boat party, events around the city and Sinan Mansions Beer Fest)
